Job Description:
DescriptionReporting to the Director of Inpatient Services, you
will provide administrative, onboarding, and supervisory support to
staff, hospitalists, and palliative care providers for Santa Monica
Hospital, community hospitals, California Rehab, nursing homes,
LTACs, and Preop Clinics where UCLA hospitalists render care.Major
duties include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and provide administrative supervision to support
staff, ensuring accurate scheduling of post-discharge follow-up
appointments for all medicine patients (geriatrics, cardiology,
gastroenterology, oncology) while meeting standards set by the
Department of Medicine quality team.
- Oversee the palliative care scheduling team, ensuring all
authorizations are obtained and appointments are scheduled
appropriately.
- Ensure staff upload all history and physicals and discharge
summaries timely from community sites and route medical records to
appropriate physicians, maintaining the discharge incentive
program.
- Supervise staff responsible for inputting IM bills from
community hospitalists and nephrologists, transferring, extracting,
and uploading data to UCLA billing.
- Manage hospitalist and community phone lines, ensuring timely
responses to patient care issues and staff pages.
- Oversee home health orders, death certificates, and create
on-call calendars for emergency rooms, nursing homes, or other
services lacking access to UCLA calendars.
- Request and upload medical records for all medicine requests
from physicians and NPs to Care Connect.
- Supervise analysts responsible for compiling daily patient
census data across all hospitals for senior leadership, including
Barlow, CRI, community hospitals, SMH, and RR.
- Report weekly SNF numbers, night triage logs, and historical
data for past years.
- Oversee direct admissions for Department of Medicine physicians
to Santa Monica Hospital, including urgent same-day, future chemo,
and desensitization admissions.
- Manage after-hours answering service for troubleshooting when
physicians do not respond to pages, especially after hours.Salary
Range: $83,800 - $179,400 annually
