MANUFACTURING SPECIALIST, MATERIALS ENGINEERING As a Manufacturing Specialist at SpaceX you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions at the cutting edge of space technology. You will work on launch vehicles and spacecraft that will deliver satellites into earth orbit, ferry humans to and from the international space station, and ultimately extend humanity's reach beyond the earth and moon. You will own the relationship between our development and production teams. You will support plastic injection molding, high pressure die casting, NDE, and more within the materials engineering organization. SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. You will also own automation & controls projects to help us design and develop control systems and software for production line machinery to manufacture, test, and track Starlink consumer devices in a high volume manufacturing facility. Responsibilities: + Architect, write, and debug PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable for manufacturing applications + Implement (ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant) control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment + Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for complex machinery while providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting + Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing + Deploy automated processes and equipment into production + Set, implement, and maintain schedules and budgets to ensure project completion + Lead the production, assembly and integration of complex systems + Resolve, analyze and solve manufacturing discrepancies, while interfacing with the quality team (resolving issues for design, fabrication, and assembly) + Fully develop and implement future state production systems for all products Basic Qualifications: + High school diploma or equivalency certificate + 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment + 3+ years of experience with robotics or machine design Preferred Skills and Experience: + Process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems experience + Electrical schematic CAD experience using EPlan + C#, .NET, python and/or SQL experience + PLC programming or Beckhoff experience + HMI and SCADA programming experience + Experience with NDE + Exposure to a wide variety of production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (vision systems, dispense systems, temperature controllers, laser distance sensors, nutrunners, etc) + Excellent communication skills both written and verbal + Experience in fast-paced iterative design and manufacturing environments + Experience solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: + Willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to hit critical deadlines ITAR REQUIREMENTS: + To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
