SMT PROCESS ENGINEER (STARLINK)SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. We are looking for talented, creative, and driven manufacturing engineers to drive automation & manufacturing projects needed in order to build millions of consumer-facing devices used for communicating with Starlink. In this position you will be part of a team driving PCB assembly projects and will guide the product design to optimize the production. You will wear numerous hats and will get engaged on a pretty broad set of technical fields in order to ensure the product can be produced reliably and with a high level of automation.RESPONSIBILITIES: Guide the PCB & PCBA product development towards a highly manufacturable and reliable designDevelop factory expansion plans for new PCBA processes, additional SMT lines & enhanced automationRoot cause build, process & product issues in order to create a reliable product & factoryCreate equipment layouts, material movement plans, wiring schematics, and process flow mapsOptimize PCBA production equipment & processes to improve cycle time, reliability and yieldReview and qualify new board designs, manufacturing equipment, additional lines & processesCoordinate across electrical, mechanical, material management and supply chain disciplines to solve complex automation & product challengesWork closely with production associates and supervisors on build process implementation, training and continuous improvementBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or STEM discipline3+ years of experience in SMT manufacturing of PCBAs5+ years of manufacturing experiencePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:5+ years of experience planning, building & optimizing SMT manufacturing lines5+ years of experience reviewing & optimizing the manufacturability of PCB designs5+ years of experience with project management (technical scope, schedule, cost)5+ years of experience with lean and six sigma manufacturing principles5+ years of experience with underfill, staking & conformal coating processes5+ years of experience developing automated optical inspection (AOI) programsDemonstrated ability to work in a highly cross-functional roleOutstanding project management skillsAbility to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding start-up atmosphere.Excellent communication skills both written and verbalADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability work extended hours and weekends as neededITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
